Here i wish share a little bit of knowledge with you
we all are aware of about the word propaganda generally it is said that a manipulative approach and technique that is used to convert a lie into truth.
Wikipedia defines as
"Propaganda is information that is not objective and is used primarily to influence an audience and further an agenda, often by presenting facts selectively to encourage a particular synthesis or perception, or using loaded language to produce an emotional rather than a rational response to the information that is presented. Propaganda is often associated with material prepared by governments, but activist groups and companies can also produce propaganda. "
Propaganda is always based on lie may be based on half truth
Mr. Paul Craig Roberts explains as in his article " The Reign of Propaganda "
"The more pure the lie, the more complete the success in turning it into The Truth. Lies partly based in fact or half-truths open themselves to factual challenge. For a propagandist the best lie is a lie unfettered by even a distant relationship to truth. Such a lie can be turned into such self-evident truth that no evidence is necessary. ”
Propaganda,is dissemination of information facts, arguments, rumors, half-truths, or lies—to influence public opinion.
it is also a systematic effort to manipulate other people’s beliefs, attitudes, or actions by means of symbols (words, gestures, banners, monuments, music, clothing, insignia, hairstyles, designs on coins and postage stamps, and so forth).
Modern propaganda uses all the media available to spread its message, including: press, radio, television, film, computers, fax machines, posters, meetings, door-to-door canvassing, handbills, buttons, billboards, speeches, flags, street names, monuments, coins, stamps, books, plays, comic strips, poetry, music, sporting events, cultural events, company reports, libraries, and awards and prizes. is most likely that some of these media uses are surprising, but that only serves to show how easy it is to not even recognize propaganda as such.
Knowing that you are susceptible to propaganda is only part of the battle. Below are five things you can do to mitigate its impact on you:
- Stop believing things unquestioningly. Just because it appears in your Facebook feed or was covered on the news, doesn’t make it true. Stop, question and think.
- Identify the aim of the message. Did it make you feel a certain way? Is the message encouraging you to do or think something – if yes, what? Don’t you feel manipulated?
- What is the source of the message? What do you know about them? Find out more. Who are they? What do they stand for? Who funds them? What is their aim?
- List the arguments made through the message – can you think of any counter arguments? How much do you really know about the subject? Go learn more – from multiple sources. Fact check for accuracy. Every disgusting new disease warning is just a Snopes away from refute.
- Listen to opposing views. Just because you think you are right, doesn’t make it so. Read the perspective from the other side, and try to suspend your ingrained views while doing it.
