Bowel or colon cancer, is cancer in any part of the colon or rectum common symptoms of bowel cancer can include:
- A change in bowel habits, such as diarrhea, constipation, or narrowing of the stool, that lasts for more than a few days
- A feeling that you need to have a bowel movement that is not relieved by doing so
- Rectal bleeding
- Dark stools, or blood in the stool
- Weakness and fatigue
- Sometimes, the cancer can cause a blockage (obstruction) in the bowel
- Unintended weight loss
- Blood in the stool
- Pain in the right side of the abdomen or stomach
- Leg swelling
- Itching
- Abdominal swelling
- blood in, or on, your stools (bowel motions) – the blood may be bright red or dark
- pain in the tummy (abdomen) or back passage
- feeling that you haven’t emptied your bowel properly after a bowel motion
